Byzantine collection 2015

RO:
Lumea bizantină a fost o lume plină de farmec, sursa de inspirație a multor colecții vestimentare printre care cea mai cunoscută este (probabil) cea semnată Dolce & Gabbana (jos).

The byzantine world, a world full of charm, was the inspiration for many fashion collections. One of the best known is probably the one from Dolce & Gabbana (below).

Imperiul Bizantin a fost și tema pe care am primit-o la Școala Populară de Arte pentru mini-colecția de anul acesta. Trebuie să recunosc că la început nu am fost prea încântată, dar documentându-mă i-am descoperit farmecul.

Primul pas în elaborarea acestui “proiect” a fost schițarea ideilor. Dintre zeci de schițe au fost alese cinci, pe care urma să le transpunem în realitate.

The Byzantine empire was also the theme we had for this year’s mini-collection at the School of Art. I must admit that at first I didn’t like it but reading about it, I discovered its charm.

The first step in the making of this project was sketching. From tens of sketches were chosen only five which we had to turn  into real outfits.

Următorul pas a fost alegerea materialelor și prelucrarea ținutelor propriu-zise.

Am folosit o stofă ușoară neagră pentru pantaloni și un tricot mai dur în trei culori (negru, maro și bej) pentru restul pieselor. Am înlocuit broderiile și decorațiunile din mărgele tipic bizantine, cu bucăți de piele.

The next step was choosing the fabrics and creating the final outfits.

I used a soft black fabric for the trousers and a tougher knit in three colors (black, brown and cream) for the rest of the pieces. I replaced the embroideries and the beaded decorations (which were very common in the byzantine empire) with leather.
